    A New Direction for 2021

    I think that I have had an epiphany. I think that I have just finally found a “job/life description” that fits where my heart tells me that I want to go. Let me explain… I have been a Registered Dietitian for 35 years. In that time, I have done homecare, inpatient hospital care, outpatient care, private practice, long term care, back to private practice and now as an author and speaker. In all those roles, I have tended to lean towards caring for the concerns of adults, particularly “mature” adults.     The world is a different place today than it was two weeks ago. With the worldwide exponential growth of Covid-19 infections, we are seeing a global response that is unprecedented in the history of human culture. The new catchphrase “We are all in this together.” is totally true. It doesn’t appear to be sparing any part of the planet. As of this writing, there are over 335,000 cases worldwide and over 15,000 deaths. Nobody is yet certain about who is at most risk, although underlying health conditions seem to have a major impact on outcomes.     The importance of talismans.

    TALISMAN: Definition: an object, typically an inscribed ring or stone, that is thought to have magic powers and to bring good luck. Tonight, as I write this post, it’s the last game of the finals of the Stanley Cup championships. The last hockey game of the season. I’m not a follower of hockey, but I’m sure there are many players on the ice tonight that have worn the same socks or refused to shave since the playoffs began.
